NexBake docs

Install, sign in, activate your licence and bake.

Requirements

  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
  • Blender 5.1 or newer
  • A NexStudio account with a NexBake licence
  • Internet for signing in and the licence check. Your meshes and maps never leave your computer.

Install

  1. Download the NexBake ZIP. Do not unzip it.
  2. In Blender open Edit › Preferences › Get Extensions.
  3. Open the menu at the top right and choose Install from Disk, then pick the ZIP.
  4. In the 3D Viewport press N, open the NexBake tab and press Open NexBake.

Checking the download…

Sign in and activate

Blender signs in with a short code you confirm in your browser. Your password never enters Blender.

  1. Press the account chip at the top right of the NexBake bar, then Sign in.
  2. Your browser opens. Check that both codes match and confirm.
  3. If your purchase came with a licence key, choose Enter licence key and paste it.
  4. A green dot on the chip means the licence is active on this computer.

If the browser does not open, visit this address and type the code:

Your first bake

  1. In your usual workspace select the low poly mesh. It needs a UV map.
  2. In NexBake press Add Low Poly, then add the high poly in Common Settings › High poly.
  3. Pick a Preset and the maps you want in Mesh Map Bakers.
  4. Press Bake. Maps fill in live. Export them from Export Textures.
A yellow ! marks anything that blocks the bake, right where you fix it.

Computers

A licence covers a set number of computers at once. A Personal licence covers 2.

To move to a new computer, free one first: Sign out in NexBake, or Free this computer on your Licences page.

Working offline

NexBake checks your licence with NexStudio from time to time. Offline, it keeps baking for up to 20 days. The chip turns amber and shows the days left; connect once to reset it.

Licence terms

The NexBake licence terms are being finalised and will be published here before release.

Troubleshooting

The Bake button is dimmed with a yellow !

Click it. NexBake opens the place to fix and shows the reason.

“Engine missing” or “Engine damaged”

Antivirus software sometimes removes new programs. Reinstall the ZIP and allow nexbake.exe in your antivirus.

Artefacts in the normal map

Raise Max frontal and Max rear distance in Common Settings › Cage, and turn on Show cage.

“All computers are in use”

Free one on your Licences page, then try again.
